The Company

What is Populo?

Poetry

“Populo” was used at the time to derogatorily refer to the common people. It was also used to refer to a large crowd of people, or to children.

The Populo Company is a large family that brings together artists aged 23 to 42 from all over France. It is part of a multidisciplinary theater exploring puppetry but also song and dance to work on a theme that is dear to it and common to all its creations: dehumanization. Founded in 2021 in La Ciotat, it seeks above all to tell and evoke the great subjects of classical works while making them accessible to the widest possible audience. “Poetry is the prophetic truth of existence and making theater is listening to the world to be its resonance.” (Laurent Terzieff).

In this way, La Compagnie Populo aims to place theatre in its social necessity by leading the spectator to reflect on themselves and the world around them because revolt and art will always be intimately linked.
